New Science, Ancient Religion and the Evolution of Consciousness
Chakras are an ancient Hindu concept, from a Sanskrit word used to describe seven centers of energy -- or more accurately, focus -- in the human body.
Over the course of centuries, the word "chakra" has become increasingly imprecise, as the concept has been embraced by many different belief systems. In recent years, chakras have become a New Age staple. Dozens of products offer advice on opening your chakras, closing your chakras, tuning your chakras, or balancing your chakras.
But science has come up cold in the search for the chakras. Batteries of tests have come back empty. There is no measurable energy at the chakra points, there are no consistent anatomical features at the chakra points. To many scientists, chakras are simply a foolish myth used to bilk gullible people out of their hard-earned money.
Quantum Chakras seeks to examine how quantum physics, chaos theory and other recent discoveries offer a new prism through which to view the chakra tradition.
